If you want the 99.999% uptime on your mobile broadband connection, the DOVADO TINY router has the unique capability to automatically re-power the inserted USB modem in case the modem is no longer operational. This makes the DOVADO TINY a perfect centerpiece for remote installations in an unattended environment; ideal for not only the home, but also for M2M communication and video surveillance.
To make use of this feature, you will need to enable and configure the CONNECTION TRACKER, located in the INTERNET sub-menu within the router. If all three pingable IP destinations cease to reply, the router will assume that the modem is no longer operating, therefore will restart the router and re-power the USB modem along with it!
@corgrath We do not know why this happens, but there are many things at play. It's one thing to say that it would be the modem's fault, another thing to say that it's the host's fault, and yet another thing would be to say that it's the mobile network's fault. We can't tell for sure, but can only say it's a grand inconvenience for subscribers who want a 24/7 connection. USB modems are not designed for 24/7 connection, but we do what we can with them. DOVADO TINY does a great job with the modem.

Have to admit, restarting the USB when it can't access the three hosts, is pretty clever.
However, it is sad to hear that most mobile modems usually crash after a while. As a company working with mobile networks, do you know why it is common that the modem crashes? And/or can give any suggestions on how to minimize the likelihood?
