I can't believe I've never heard this before. I'm always looking for anything new from Diamanda and this is wonderful. Considering that it's a few years old, the only reason I haven't heard it, is because it's from the material she's been touring with. She REALLY needs to put out another live album ... or two.

This comment of mine is not a statement that I "know Diamanda"; on the contrary, I never heard of her before I heard this. It is, as should be obvious, a response to this performance. If this performance is atypical or in any way not representative of her vocal skills, that has no bearing on my response. Dynamicsa is more than the mere presence of loud and soft. @YMcB1947 oh...she s in TOTAL control....over everything....great musician, one of a kind vocalist. I like her, and I like Etta James' version as well... But Diamanda has so much theatricality and dramaticality in it, that easily wins the fight ;) Remember, when you listen to DIamanda, EVERY Sound is VALID, she does not seperate between right and wrong voice, beautiful and ugly. Everything has a part in the whole picture.
