holy fuck, i didn't know they were even playing in unison until I actually saw it. the precision and skill is INTENSE. and here I am still struggling over my stupid pentatonic scale playing sixteenths at 130 bpm, sucks to be a noob :(

@OxenOrb Interesting question. Maybe they don't want a metal-on-metal sound all the time, which would likely result from a metal pick. That's just a wild guess though.

Yep, that's a thimble that Ben and Ron touching together at the beginning of the video. The metal acts as a fret would on the fretboard and gives the note a clearer sound than just trying to tap it with your finger.
In this video, Ben is 18.
