Gale force winds rushed upon us one morning around 5am in Kaitoke National Park. Here in windy Wellington. Kaitoke is where Rivendell was filmed in the Lord of the Rings.
Maybe,, just maybe, you would try to find something to support the broken pole with? Maybe go outside and position a picnic table or two as a wind break?
Hey tenyearvet I give these people credit for getting off their tv and xbox 360's and camping. Not everyone is a pro like you. The is laughing and trying to keep spirits high. As for natural wind breaks are great but a better tent would be a better investment.
Amazing how many people don't think of the situation of their camp emplacement. A natural windbreak would have prevented this if they had a choice of sites. If not, make one. Would have been better to have a tent with internal frame and external as well if possible if you knew there were going to be high winds Also... go smaller. You'll also be warmer in cold weather.
@znet1986 What pole, Bro? This was one of those pop-up pieces of crap. You know the kind? Throw it up in the air and it hits the ground ready to use. Sad thing is people pay lots of money for this stuff.
how cosy
