The launch of Space Shuttle Endeavour STS-123 viewed from 2 angles on the NASA causeway at Kennedy Space Center. Launch occurred at 2:28 am EST on March 11, 2008

The mission is carrying a storage compartment (the first installment of Japan's Kibo lab) which will be attached to the ISS. The crew will also assemble Canada's Dextre robot, which was carried inside of the shuttle in nine pieces.

  • I was there when STS-123 launched. It was such a wonderful experience and it really lit up the night sky. This is one I will never forget! I would love to see another one in person before the launch are retired.
