@snoops71 Oh that's wonderful to hear :) I remember Michael Learned saying that she loved working with Bob as much as she did with Ralph. She noted both men were the consummate actors and took any character they played seriously. You may be interested to know Nurse was filmed in NY which allowed Bob and Michael to pursue theater roles, something they desired very much. I'm glad The Waltons' writers didn't have Elizabeth lose her virginity, and I bet Kami would've vetoed that storyline.
@snoops71 For the last Battle, ABC won, largely due to some great selections for the tug-of-war. The two Brians, Wimmer and Robbins, were in it, as were Rob, Olivia and JoAnn. The girls were nervous about doing it b/c of their size but they did really well. Dynasty was only on Thursdays during season 9 (1988-89) so I'm betting Knots took higher priority for you :) Stephanie Beacham played Sable, her character from The Colbys. She and Alexis hated each other and fought all the time :)
@snoops71 99 was very surprised to hear of Max's sudden promotion, but they both adhered to their strong sense of duty, and knew something was wrong right away, which is why the Chief went undercover. I do remember seeing Barbara Feldon on Laugh-In a few times, and she also appeared on The Dean Martin Show a couple of times, too :) Speaking of '60s TV, Jimmy Komack directed an episode of The Green Hornet, "Corpse of the Year." Most of the cast and crew did not enjoy working with him.
@snoops71 When Joan of Arcadia first debuted, I checked it out but didn't stick with it on a regular basis b/c it was on Fridays, and since I was in college at the time I always had commitments on Friday nights :) The show should've been a success b/c of its early time slot, which belonged to both The Hulk and The Dukes in the early '80s. From what I've heard, the episodes could be very deep at times. Do you remember 2000 Malibu Road? It was Aaron Spelling's only soap to air on CBS.
@jsrosa1282 Oh yes, you told me about that. Kids the ages of Bobby and Cindy at that time could easily be seen doing something like that. I don't know why that was so hard for him to believe. It was very realistic. Bob and Michael Learned had wonderful chemistry together on Nurse. They were fabulous on screen together, and that was one of the things I liked best about the show. Even when their characters disagreed on something, there was a deep, mutual respect always there :)
@jsrosa1282 If it had been in the earlier years of Dynasty, it would have been very difficult. However, if we're talking about the latter days, then Knots would have won out. Knots only seemed to keep getting better with time, which was something none of the other primetime soaps were able to accomplish. I vaguely remember John's lame, tacky jokes. For the most part, I was blocking them out :) The best thing about the ABC team for me was Olivia d'Abo. Who won? I don't remember.
@jsrosa1282 Max did good that time :) He could have just enjoyed being the new Chief, and let it go. How did 99 react to Max's sudden promotion? Didn't you tell me you remembered seeing Barbara Feldon on Laugh-In? She was on quite frequently in the first two seasons. I thought she was a semi-regular at one point :) She fit in very well with the rest of the cast, especially the girls.
@jsrosa1282 Kam and I both watched Joan of Arcadia. We were disappointed when we heard it had been canceled. We liked the overall theme, and the various storylines each week. I didn't know Boston Public was canceled midseason. Fox made a mistake moving it to Fridays. I've heard of JAG, but didn't watch it. There definitely should have been a finale for Boston Public. It sounds like a really good show :)
@snoops71 I'll be more than happy to describe :) Boston Public aired for three and a half seasons, from 2000 to 2004. For its first three seasons, it aired on Mondays at 8:00, just like The White Shadow had many years before. However, for its final season, Fox moved it to Fridays at 9:00, which meant it had to compete against JAG on CBS, a top 30 show. Boston Public was canceled in mideseason. I was wondering - can you ask Kam if she watched Joan of Arcadia, a CBS drama from 2003-05?
@snoops71 Get Smart made some references to LBJ, especially during one episode from season 3 - a KAOS agent imitated LBJ's voice and fired the Chief over the phone. Believing it to be true, the Chief was demoted to regular Control agent while Max was appointed the new Chief by the fake LBJ. Max made a wise decision to send the Chief undercover and seek out the truth, which was successful. I always admired how Mary Ellen was so protective of Elizabeth, especially when it came to Drew :)
