In this video I demonstrate resizing a Low-poly Character with a Biped Animation using the Autodesk 3D Studio Max application. In my scenario I was required to resize an elderly man from 1.8m tall to 1.66m tall which requires modifying both the Biped and Mesh. I also use a small application called "Character ReScaler v1.0.exe" to quickly work out the percentage making scaling the mesh very quick and easy.
This was recorded on a machine which does not have a microphone so have listed the steps below:
- First show the animation cycle
- Set viewport to flat mode to hide shading
- Create a plane simply to use as a guide/reference with 1.66m height
- Select the Mesh and Skin modifier and disable Always Deform
- Switch to the Motion tab and enable Figure Mode
- Adjust height from 1.805m to 1.66m
- I use Character ReScale Calculator to find the percentage %
- Select the Mesh and Scale Offset-Screen to 91.967%
- Under the Skin modifier enable Always Deform
- Under the Motion tab disable Figure Mode
- Show animation cycle with character resized
Note: The Biped was not exactly XYZ = 0 which is why it is slightly higher than the Plane guide/reference.
