this is a requinto you might also say that it is a soprano guitar. It is 3/4 size of a regular guitar. It is also tuned from top to bottom ADGBEA

A question. If you playing along with another full-size guitar and it was tuned to E, the requinto would have to have capo on the second fret right?

Yes. With the capo on that second fret you would play the position of A, which without the capo would be B.

To failfree: I do know how to play guitar to a point, mostly rock and folk songs, but I also like boleros, which, when played by trios, require the use of a requinto. Requinto playing is mostly done by the use of scales. I found a CD ROM offered on eBay of requinto scales, and that might be a place for you to start your search.

Hi, I have a question and is that how do you play, I mean, if you read a tablature written for guitar where lower E is open, in a requinto the lower is A so you cannot find E, how do you correct it? And, I've never seen score or tablature for requinto and sometimes I think the requinto players play the same strings and frets as they would do on a guitar EADgbe, no matter the tunning on a requinto is different.

@mikeygonza Gracias por la respuesta. Tiene muy buen sonido. Creo que ya no hacen esas guitarras, y las hacian en los sesentas. Tengo la opinion que la mayoria las guitarras Japonesas de esos dias estaban muy bien hechas. El sonido de la tuya me hace recordar el sonido del requinto de Los Tres Ases, y esta escala, de la cancion "Se Me Hizo Facil".
