All mods are simply model swaps, new models or alterations to already existing characters. It's why, if you see "Ashley" being played in maingame via a Mod, it's simply a swap/alteration of Leon in the maingame.

Now, you CAN edit the HUD and put proper names in but most people don't bother. So, yes, Predator is a mod for Krauser in Mercenaries.
