Further testing the AI in OFP:DR to experiment if they can see through smoke and engage a player or opposition AI thought it. Short answer is yes. Smoke in OFP:DR has little to no effect on the AI players at all. Funnily enough one of the "tips" shows on the pre-mission loading screen says: "Use smoke to blind your enemy...."

  • This game is so bugged and frustrating and the AI`s are the best soldiers i have ever seen lol, thanks for the vid ill be able to sleep tonight knowing that it was`nt my tactics that i could`nt see an AI from just 100m away but they will sure see me first, and as for a 1 shot kill as promised by Codemasters LOL yeh the AI`s can do it, but god damn 6 shot on one AI he`ll just lay flat crawl a while then ill pump 3 more hits into him then he`ll jump up like nothing has happend turn i kill me lol

  • Have a look on codemasters forums and look for my posts (acog) you will find one of my mods in my sig that rebalances the weapons so that USMC can incapacitate PLA with one shot to the body or extremities and PLA can do so with 2 shots. It's the same ratio as the vanilla game but just a simple change of the amount of shots needed. Even though you can kill them quicker, they can also kill you faster.

  • In real life, trained military is tought to blind fire into smoke.

  • Im sure they are, but as you can see, when there is no player behind the smoke, they don't do it. Only when they use their x-ray vision to see you will they open fire lol.

  • its because al's gun have night version witch see throuth the smoke sory for my bad spelling

  • i told you guys that the smoke dosnt work with AI

  • @acogacog09 I have no idea how to use the smoke grenade...I just don't get it. Do you have to find it? Because I keep opening my equipment menu but it's just not on my list...it's stressing me out. I play on the 360

  • @andromedarr Hearing - 100m away in a combat zone? No.

Aiming - Looks like the tracking was flawless to me. Very similar scatters.

Reporting - Rifles must first be fired to make the sound of gunfire.

Knowing they're there - Yes, you know someone's popped a smoke, but where they are now is the point.

Night-Ops - The entire Chinese army? Even medics and machine gunners? Who's paying for that and why aren't these thermals on their guns when you check the dead's inventories?

  • I mean, you know theres an enemy when theres a smoke-Wall in front of you, and then you try to something. And why shouldnt the Chineses use Night-Ops, as you and youre Team did?

  • I think they hear you, and as you can see, their shots arent as good aimed as without smoke, and your Character reports the Rifleman, because he heres Rifle-Shots in the Distance

  • Though it's way more realistic than MW2, so that's how they attract more players :D

  • It's not a simulator. It's a tactical shooter. That's a good enough reason to be consitered a fail in realism.
