Michelle is exactly right they handled the situation the wrong way people were rushed out of their offices. The Chancellor really needs to look deep inside the Memphis HR department they are very unprofessional and they are committing fraud. No one trust the Memphis team that's why everyone hates to go to Equity & Diversity because no matter what right or wrong they do stick together to save their jobs. All of them needs to be fired and get someone else to operate the business. Mphs u are busted

@thomassheltonsmith it is "trustworthy" information. I just couldn't remember when the original letters were sent out. These letters were warning the people on the original list to prepare to be laid off. The University didn't know exactly how many employees would be laid off because other employees were leaving and those positions weren't being filled. There were no letters that came out this week - the people were called over to Human Resources...maybe you should get your facts straight.

@Boomerdog33, thanks for the very "trustworthy" information: "There were approximately 250 employees that received letters back in May or June 2010" That sounds really specifc, like someone with a firm grasp of the facts.
The 46 employees who received very vague letters in May only received them because the union forced UTHSC to release the information. These letter contained no specifics, and the specific letters which came out this week provided for less than 2 months total severance pay.

This is not true! There were approximately 250 employees that received letters back in May or June 2010. These employees will be paid through September 2010 and from what I've heard, UT Human Resources has arranged for Unemployment Services to come to UT to meet with these employees so they don't have to go stand in line at their centers.
You may have to turn the volume up to fully hear Michele, but this video is a must see!
