For a single drive or a handful of drives it works, but for business level or hundreds of drives at once - the crusher is consistent, safer, and then Vernon Technology will recycle the remains.

On the level of a single drive, Drilling into the correct places will work just fine, but on a business level of dealing with hundreds of drives, the crusher is faster, safer and more consistent. Also in a business setting you don't necessarily want to be drilling up drives and being left with all the shredded remains.
The Crusher is for large quantities. It is safe, consistent, and Vernon Technology will recycle the remains of the drive.

I used to work for a company which used a fly-press to do the same thing. more satisfying when you can swing somthing round to crush it :-p

Hahaha jaggedrocksk8, you're the man dude.
I want to ask Vernon Technology something. Does these HDD crushing machines are really necessary? Isn't a simple drill enough to do the trick? These presses are very expensive. Makes me want to work in companies as a HDD destroyer.

The drive is crushed and won't fit back anywhere.
The spindles and drive are destroyed or warped or in multiple pieces.
The information is gone.
