So someone asked a about rap safety. So this is the first of a request video. In this video we cover what knot we prefer to use. I should say I prefer to use. There are a lot and all will work but for climbing I am showing the one that I have been using for the last several years.

  • It might be called a Uro Deathnot, because it acts similar to a noose, when you pull the 2 ends

  • @Bob65001 I think it came more from a missunderstanding of the knot when we tranitioned from a double fishermans to therse overhands. You may be right thou. Plenty of hanging went on in europe to keep the peasents at bay.

  • @mikebarter387 :)

Oh by the way, Im a rather poor climber or in otherwords, i dont have funds backing my climbing. Would you advise against a rope harness for rappelling short falls? No more than 150 feet?

  • @Bob65001 I'll go with the safe side and say buy a commercial harness.

  • Any advice/pointers for anyone wanting to learn. I did it once many years ago and it was pretty bitchin'.

  • What do you want to learn. Join a club usually is the best option. Cheaper and plenty of mentors. Bsic lessons at your local climbing wall

  • El niño Chanoc

  • very instructive, thanks for making vids!

  • @HvyMetal4Ever if u still havnt got the stuff and if ur still in 2 it u would need a harness, carabinars, rope and if u wanted 2 rappel or belay u would need a figure 8 or a rescue 8 and they are both pretty much the same but the resque 8 i think is better and more expensive

  • Rappelling is fun as hell, also fast roping off a helicopter skid is great.

I'd rather rappel then walk off any day.

  • Everything I possibly can. Any recommendations on purchasing my own equip.? Thanks for the pointers. We actually do have a indoor rock climbing place here in town. I'll have to give them a call.
