yeehaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! this song makes me think of a barn dance, or something like it. it makes me want to get up and dance, but i camt be bothered normally! does anyone agree wit this?
It's beautiful shashi2005, but not a hornpipe ,nor a slide ,nor Irish,though the queen of Ireland is playing it, no ,it's an ancient Acadian (Cajun) tune called The Happy One-Step, and how apt is it's name !! It sure gets your feet to want to dance or tap,Albainn gu Brath
To a modern chanteuse it means a slow song, (Unchained Melody for example.)
On the other hand, the vast Bodleian Libary ballad collection contains tens of thousands of ballads, published from the time of Caxton till world war one.
The huge & definitive Child ballad collection stretches to 5 volumes, few, if any, of which adhere to your purely poetic definition.
This tune is still not a ballad though. We agree on that.
