Oldschool / newschool way of looking at things isn't viable anymore.

Back when BIG was rapping BIG was considered "new school" because the original rappers were like Run DMC NWA and Public Enemy.

This is oldschool in the sense that BIG is "oldschool".

Golden age of hip hop IMO. 80s hip hop just didn't have a high enough production value for me. Current hip hop has a great production value, musically but is srsly lacking in lyricism and vocal quality.

Mid 90s hip hop had both.
