I love how uneducated Americans see this as doomed to fail from the start but the Saturn V was destined to succeed. The Saturn V and Apollo spacecraft did great things but a LOT of luck was involved. Even the Apollo astronauts knew as much with Gus Grisholm having very little (and rightfully so) confidence in the Apollo

It's a shame that N1 was abandoned, because it's a spectacular piece of kit and the problems could've been ironed out if the project got some TLC. Anyway, the blast is something to behold.

No, this was an unmanned test flight, and the Soviets had learned from the Nedelin Disaster to keep their ground personnel far, far away from these things when fueled or launching, so they did not died when it all went splodey. Still, it completely destroyed the launchpad, in an explosion so huge the US detected the pressure wave.

Of course it would be the Russians who hold the record for the largest non nuclear explosion. To bad it was an accident.

F.Y.I. Yes, it was not lack of Technology, the N1-L3 arguably had the most advanced rocket engines ever invented, the problem was they were rushed to be put onto the rocket before they had all the problems worked out and...well....the video shows it from there.

Dude, all governments have propaganda. If you think American Propaganda is bad, you clearly need to go to countries that hate us with a seething passion.
