Every year, girls from across Western Australia come together in Perth to play netball in celebration of National Aboriginal and Islander Day of Celebration (NAIDOC).
The 2009 NAIDOC Week Netball Carnival saw 1200 people attend and a record-breaking 47 teams participate in six divisions.
The carnival is an annual initiative of the Department of Sport and Recreations (DSR) Indigenous Sport Unit in partnership with Netball WA, Healthway Smarter than Smoking, Southern Districts Netball Association, the Netball Aboriginal Advisory Committee and the Nyoongar Sports Association.
As well as celebrating sport, cultural diversity and friendship, the carnival provides pathway opportunities for Indigenous youth and women to further develop their netball skills and supports their access into mainstream competitions.
Good to see this on YouTube.
