Bioshock 2 Beach Event Vancouver

I saw a posting on various internet gaming sites about the Bioshock 2 marketing event and noticed that Kits beach in Vancouver was one of the locations where it was happening. Living close to the beach I decided to go and document what happened. Would a big daddy emerge from the water? Would splicers try to kill us? Would a little girl try to stab us with a big needle and harvest our adam? These questions were to be answered this morning.

I took a cab down to the beach and quickly spotted a large group of people. The GPS coordinates were horribly off but thankfully Kits beach is much smaller than Jericho beach. Once I made it to the water I noticed bottles in the sand... then I noticed a woman planting them in the sand... which kinda ruined the magic a bit - oh well it wasn't 5:55 yet and ANYTHING could happen.

Some people opened their bottles and looked at the contents - ads for plasmids - and discussed whether there were also 2K games hiring posters included. We found none. After grabbing a bottle for myself the time ticked along and it was suddenly 5:55. So what happened?

Nothing.

We all stood around looking for signs of a big daddy or... well... anything but were sadly unfulfilled. A couple drove all the way from Seattle for the event and I felt bad for them. After waiting till 6:20 we left. Some went to denny's... I went back to my bed.

All in all I'd say it was kinda worth it. I got a bottle with some art and a fun story. Now I have shared that story with you.... who probably got more sleep than I did today.

Did anyone think to take a Black Light to these posters since it is known that the 3 posters that came with the 360's version of the Bioshock 2 Special Edition have "hidden" writings on them that can only be revealed by said Black Light??

haha i live in surrey and ive been to that exact beach. small world eh lol bummer that nothing happened it was so suspensful the whole video
