I've seen these people out front of Trader Joes before. They are protesting actions in regions where Trader Joes doesn't buy product from. They are trying to create a problem that doesn't exist. So many times these movements are crippled because the people leading it don't know, see, or understand the bigger picture or the facts involved.

If Trader Joe's buys the food, then it doesn't matter if they protest where it originates from. It's all about consumerism. That's why they are protesting in a store. WE have the choice to support stuff or not. And yet we blame the people who are trying to raise awareness? How pathetic.

@LLComm20Fall2011 I like how you use "Tree huggers" as an insult. lol I would rather hug a tree then cut it down and destroy the environment and habitats. God, I do not know why people think "hippies" or "tree huggers" are so terribly upsetting. Maybe because a lot of the time they go against our own lives and modern, corporate society. Making them look stupid makes us look smarter I guess? Sad. Just sad. They are fighting a war that's just.

Shocked by the misinformation in these comments. Trader Joes DOES get tomatoes from florida. In fact 90% of tomatoes picked during the winter season come from Florida. Trader Joes says they have already complied with the Fair Food agreement- this is simply untrue. The CIW is not a "third party" they are the workers who pick food provided directly to Trader Joes. It is the structure of the agricultural industry that allows Trader Joes to distance themselves from worker abuse.
