@RatherCrunchyMuffin - I totally agree rathercrunch! My search for a bowlback mandolin under ten thousand dollars has been a waste of time. Same with trying to find a greek bouzouki! While bluegrass mandolins are EVERYWHERE - nothing for us folkies anywhere makes me rather distraught. My daughter plays bluegrass banjo and when I go to 'music conventions' with her, there is an occasional chat about how 'uncomfortable' bowl back or neapolitan mandolins are to play....They don't get it!

Beautiful playing.
But the recording has a slight crunchiness to it. That's probably not from the instrument from the mic/preamp/recorder.

Agreed. It's nice to hear the difference in timbre.
It annoys me that mandolins common in the US are directed almost exclusively towards bluegrass musicians. Meanwhile folk and classical enthusiasts have to scower the web and try to translate and order European sites. It would be wise of Eastman to capitalize on the void of bowlbacks in the US market.
Can we expect more economic models to follow in time?

A very limited supply of these are available in the US now. For a fully carved, handmade mandolin of this caliber, $1999 is an econimic model. We will not be offering anything at a lower price point.
