You're sitting pretty
You got them beating down a path to you
So very witty
You can disarm them with a phrase or two
You've got them so impressed
They're falling all over their shoes
I'm not surprised anymore
You've nearly got me believing, too
You're a trend setter
A first class flawless go-getter
But, love, I know better
Cos your eyes say more than a letter
You're wondering why people love you
You're wondering why people care
And if I told you, would you believe me?
Nobody else would ever dare
You're looking smashing
In your fancy Holston outfit
You couldn't be more dashing
When you're out with the Hollywood jet set
You are a great success
They follow you all over the world
So fine, you're simply the best
You're really a remarkable girl
And you've been flying
You could not get any higher
But your heart's been crying
Cos in your heart you know I'm no liar
You're wondering why people love you...
You're wondering why people love you...
Danka for the compliment. You're not such a bad songwriter yourself, as I well know!
As for the identity of the diva who harbors a big case of hidden self-doubt, all I will tell you is congratulations for getting what the song is about! Not to get all philosophical on you, but I think it could apply to anyone who suddenly becomes very popular. It's a "Do they like ME, or do they like my image?" sort of thing.
Who'd I have in mind when I wrote the song? That's a secret!

Don't lie to the poor girl, Emmett. Lol. Sounds like most of Hollywood. Fantastic lyrics! Did you write this one about anyone in particular. Who's the poor Diva, Emmett? Great songwriter you are!
