They are... they are (99% of them) reservists - mostly infantry soldiers, trained for combat, not for ceremony - my point was that these guys don't do the ceremonial stuff all the time, the way that the Guards in London do, when they're not deployed...
The Governor General of Canadas MAIN job is to represent H.M The Queen of Canada. And the beautiful traditons shown here are part of Canadas monarchical heritage and form of government. God Save the Queen/Vive La Reine!
Maybe, maybe not - the French orders sound absolutely ridiculous in an English (or even a British) accent... Bear in mind these soldiers are Reservists who train for this for 3 weeks prior to the Drill Season, rather than specially picked and intensively trained for Ceremonial duties (and yes, I do know that the Guards in London are also combat troops, and have worked with them as well). I have done the job, and I respect them all (even the Grens... and the Foot Guards...).
i like how in the end the bagpiper had a little delay in marching that caused the first guard to turn to the left and guide left and the officer to make a skip to catch up
Thank you for contributing this video! The Governorship General of Canada is a highly undervalued institution, and I think it's wonderful that there are those out there who continue to have such a deep respect for the Governor General and the work that Her Excellency does for Canadians. Watching the Changing of the Guard ceremony is quite exhilerating, isn't it? A living piece of out heritage and our tradition.

The Queens guard are better here in England. There Marching is better and in the English accent it sounds better.
