@kultan, ignoramous?the namecalling is immature,Ever hear of"style wars"?"ever hear of Tony silver? probably not, he did more fo the spread of hip hop worldwide than martha cooper ever did.. I stand on my statement that she did nothing but take pictures. you act as if hip hop wasnt valid until it was reqognized by whites. ,sorry but it was valid way before "whites" discovered what was going on in the BX. You sound like an outsider just like them. please do your homework.

@m33smitty Please, do shut up, you ignoramus. You're double talking and I don't care if your imbecilic comment is from 12 months ago. None of the reporters and her employer were even entertaining the thought that the 'activity' that New York City youths were intensely involved in had any aesthetic value. Nobody else, that was a reporter, was looking at graf as a social/cultural/ artistic movement other than as a scapegoat for The Naked City's ills and problems.

I hear you but they are acting like she discovered hip hop and she was just a picture taker. sure she exposed it to the main stream white audience but us who lived in the hood knew about it for years. so you gotta understand I just dont like to hear"she did so much ofr hiphop" when really all she did was take pictures. the people in the HOOD are the ones that did so much for hip hop.

@m33smity. She might just be a photographer, takin' pics and such. But without her the media wouldnt had knew what hip hop was. She is the eye of early hip hop and she help resurface that.

all she did was take picures. all she was was an outsider taking photos. she had no ifluence on hip-hop all she did was bring it to the newspapers.
