I've been grieving that. He joined the faculty at LSTC when I started there in '83. A joy and privilege to hear him regularly in Chapel, at Hymn Fests and concerts. An incredibly gifted, meticulous man, of exacting standards, demanding of others, yet also humble. Everything SDG, as he showed by lifting his hand up high whenever he received well-deserved and loving applause.

Depraved, yet somehow still wonderful! Stumbled on this video when looking around for renditions of this anthem -- an all time favorite, never fails to bring tears. Even with the drunken treatment there's still some love there! :-)

I find "E'en So" to be one of the most stirring anthems I know. It's meaning is deepened by knowing that Dr. Manz composed it at a time his son was expected to die.

Ha! I actually had doing the entire thing, but I was panning the camera around, it got caught on my sleeve, and out flew the batteries therefore losing the entire song. By the time I got the batteries back in, what you saw above is all that was captured. It sounded better in the part that was lost.

I can't stop laughing at my own comment. We're actually doing this anthem for the first week of December as a communion anthem. It's a nice anthem when executed properly. :)

I completely agree. The song is beautiful and when we were in concert and not blitzed it sounded great.
