A Firefighters while responding to a infant not breathing where killed before they even got to the home; As they crossed two MAJOR bypasses a lady on her phone and doing make-up didn't pay attention to the ambulance coming up behind her leaving the ambulance stuck in the middle of the intersection getting struck by a semi truck on the passenger side.. KILLING MY UNCLE and injurying the driver very badly. I AM NOW A VOL. FIREFIGHTER, and i would like to ask to, please watch out for your firemen!

The goods from where I am from... emergency vehicles may proceeed through intersections, stop signs, speed, go the wrong way, etc, as long as they are practising due regard for safety. Apparently, that was not practised here. No matter what is said, the extra few seconds it takes to stop and clear the intersection before going will not make a difference.

its kinda funny how theres another firetruck in the lot at 0:28 and they didn't use THAT!!!lol

@Newschaser If the truck needed to be towed I'd guess the radiator was damaged and it was leaking coolant. Driving it with a coolant or oil leak isn't a good idea as the engine will likely overheat and seize up.

What they are doing is trying to stop fires before they spread or trying to rescue someone who is stuck in a burning building.

@Bamvizoolakaer "Authorities" needlessly close roads foridiculous reasons all the time.
It's like: 'We own the road and will close it if we please.' We get to express our power and control by closing it.
Most people try to help the EV. But many do not detect the siren until it is close.
They are surprised and with such little warning have no time to quickly figure out what to do.
-
Well, yeah, doh. Otherwise it's not an emergency vehicle. It's just another vehicle using the roadway and must obey every traffic law like any other vehicle.

The laws are real. The fines are painful. Which is why you see local drivers pulling to the curb when they see red, white and blue. They give the guys with amber a brake. In a city of 300K+, with 2 major highways criss crossing within the limits, I where I live there has not been an emergency vehicle verses civilian vehicle in more than ten years. Being in the the towing industry and a volunteer fire fighter I need to know the law.

This apparatus driver should have expected and seen the slippery wet leaves and slowed earlier.
There is littlexcuse for not seeing what is ahead and adjusting for it.
Also he should have expected that the other driver may not be aware of the leaves and adjust for the other driver's incompetence.
In snow and ice on an emergency run I slowed early for a red signal. Cross-traffic with green may have difficulty stopping. Vehicle slid left over towards me but I stopped well back. No problem.

@PetrolJunkie Either you are wrong or your law is absurd.
The EV driver MUST give others opportunity to detect the EV and properly react.
Some drivers may panic, or freeze and not stop of the EV. (I've had women continue right in front of me wanting to stop but they froze and did not hit their brake.)
So the EV driver MUST compensate and allow for incompetence of other drivers.
Stop or yield to AMBER lights? Nope. But I do help them by slowing or stopping so they can work..

I'm extremely confident that the law you are talking about is for emergency vehicles with lights AND sirens activated.

In my home town there is a law that says if an emergency vehicle or first responder has their lights on and you get into an accident with them, its automatically your fault no mater what happened. I like the law, because it works in conjunction with another that states you have to slow down, stop and yield the right away to any vehicle with red, white, blue or amber rotators.
Maybe folks need to talk to their local lawmakers? Its one hell of a fine to imped emergency vehicles here.
They had to tow the firetruck away for that little hit?

yes the fire truck had damage to some kind of oil line or hydrolic fluid was leaking on the pavement.

Did the fire truck have a stop sign?

Yes the firetruck did have a stop sign, but the roads were wet and alot of leaves on the ground makes it very slippery this time of year.
