Topic: Asylum Seekers and Refugees -- Do we need a more humanitarian approach or does the Government need to stay tough?

Speaker: Sue Longmore OAM

Biography: Sue has been actively supporting and advocating on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers since 2002. She has witnessed the devastating effects of long term immigration detention on asylum seekers and the hardships refugees continue to experience as they wait years for family reunion with their wives and children. Sue is a founding member of Surf Coast Rural Australians for Refugees and Queenscliff RAR. Sue works as a conservation and land management officer on the Bellarine Peninsula. She is also a fibre and textile artist who is well-known for her contemporary quilts and community arts projects highlighting environmental and social justice issues.
