If it was not for the abundance of Oil in the USA then Europeans who travel there would not have done so in masses and the power house that is the USA would not have happend. Russia and China have great Oil reserves,

The Reason Africa is so poor compared to just as baron Middile east is because Africa does not have as much oil.

The US made/makes most its money from Oil, the UK makes its from Taxes and a great deal inc that of Oil Tax hence the UK is expensive for gas at about $2 a Litre

WE can make free fuel from Water, there are a number of ways to break down H20 to make other chemicals that be used as fuel and generate Electricity that are 100% carbon free.

The reasons they are not availible is simple.....

If Gas/Coal/Oil etc was worth less than Water what would happen?

The World Economy would collapse, look how its effected many now because the US has had some problems.... If Fossil Fuels where worthless then World Ecconomy would get much much worse.

@Tankuni; I’m not opposed to pursuing clean sustainable forms of energy. I’m opposed to the political rhetoric emerging from the "anthropogenic climate change" theory. The historical correlation between increased levels of carbon dioxide and increased temperatures is often presented as proof of this. Historically carbon dioxide levels actually increased as a result of increased temperatures, not the other way round. The big issue on the next Bilderberg meeting agenda is actually GLOBAL COOLING!

Step outside your front door. Do you see that? It's an entire civilisation based on burning fossil fuels. We're increasing the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere and it's causing abrupt warming. Ecosystems can't adapt in time, foodbasket regions will come under pressure, changed weather patterns are starting to bite - particularly in the third world. It's a real problem.

As for your 'it's the sun' explanation I can only offer my heartiest facepalm.
