I am only a sixth kuy but even I know that you dont just stick your hand out and do a pointless technique, I have used Aikido in real life and it works well if you keep your cool. Who ever said that in a fight you have to catch the first punch,you can parry the puches and nock them of balance a bit and then when it is right then you can do the technique. THIS GUY KNOWS NOTHING!!

This guy has no clue what he's talking about. At the Aikido dojo I train in, no one leaves their hand out there to manipulate it. If you don't properly cut the angle of attack and ENTER with full force and proper technique YOU GET PUNCHED! Plain and simple. There's REAL Aikido and DANCE Aikido. It all depends on the SCHOOL, the TEACHER, and most importantly the STUDENT!

The wrist manipulation comes after a strike or a "Warm up technique" you don't just grab the damn thing out of the air like the movies... I'll tell you what ,get into a few fights, and see what works and what doesn't.

Aikido is the most widely practised martial art in law enforcement in the US, UK, Australia, and Japan. My school has two men form the Santa Ana police department, and 3 from the Anaheim police department. All have used Aikido very effectively against criminals. I think this guy has been watching to much MMA, it's a sport! On a mat with rules. Take a class man.
