JCUA at the Congress Hotel!

"I'm with the Jewish Counsel of Urban Affairs, and we're here at the Congress Plaza Hotel. We're here to stand up for workers who are not getting fair wages or health care benefits because as we know, the way out of poverty and the way to stay out of poverty is to have fair jobs and Jewish tradition tells us that we should help people by giving them a job, giving them a loan and basically helping people in a way that they don't have to come back for help each time.

So what the reconstructionists- Jewish communities right here are doing is picketing with the workers at the Congress Hotel who have been on strike for 6 years. For 6 years they've been marching on the picket line to get their health care, to get their fair wages, just like any other union backed hotel. They've already made a huge difference.

Justice is contagious, and it's up to young people, like these young people who are inspired by their Jewish tradition to change the world. And we have changed this area right here from a dormant, quiet area to a place where justice is demanded and JCUA is proud to have these young people as part of the Jewish community.
