@Imrankniazi Bear in mind as well that he bowled the last nine years of his career in near-constant pain, having had multiple knee operations in 1974-5. That's what prompted him to bowl down the Lords slope in '81 when he took 8-43. So in a sense he was always carrying an injury.

what kepler wessels is doing in an ashes test????????? he is south african...

@Imrankniazi Willis altered his run up after the 1982 summer in an attempt to prolong his career. This was a more controlled, straighter approach run up that afforded him more control as his feet (almost) always landed in the same place, unlike the two earlier versions.

Good old Bob Willis!
England still haven't managed to replace him even after 25 years.

yeah i cant understand why we have all these great cricketing brains in the sky studio telling us whats wrong with the adminastration of the england team. Dont tell us!!,get in there and sort it out. Who the f*ck is Hugh Morris, fair enough he had a cracking FC record but he only played 3 tests and David Graveney didnt play any tests.

This is certainly not the bustling-in Bob Willis that we normally see.. maybe he was carrying an injury.
Still too good for Wessels.
Willis is a true great. He ranks alongside Botham and Gower as inspirational to young kids like me back in the eighties.
It is very interesting that Willis,Gower and Botham never got a look in when it came to getting on the selection team for England yet mediocre performers like Geoff Miller and David Graveney do.
Its a sad fact of life that you have to kiss arse to succeed.
Mind you im sure that Bob and co enjoy working for sky and have earned the right to slag players off.

@Sir2ube and @Sourav575 - Check the date, guys! 1982-83 Ashes series was the first test cricket Kepler Wessles played and I got to see his debut at the Gabba where he made 162. Kepler lived in Australia and played for Queensland for about 4 years to qualify to play test cricket here as South Africa were banned from international cricket in 1970 because of apartheid. He retired from Australian cricket in 1985/86, but came out of the woodwork when SA came back to international cricket in 1991.
