A tribute to the mighty and much underrated Geoff Whitehorn. EJ Blues can be found on his excellent Geoff Who? album. Geoff is a master of tone and taste and has played on countless sessions, music fairs and gigged with Crawler, Paul Rodgers Procul Harum and many more. He's probably the best guitar player you've never heard of!! Check out the above album and the fine Big in Gravesend also. With Paul Rodgers, Now and Live at Loreiey are particularly good examples. The guitar is a MIJ strat with a BK VHII in the bridge straight into the amp. Comments Welcome

  • neck and middle are lace sensors added later; but the guitar is an 80s Japanese model

  • this is a excellent tribute to a brilliant player. The only thing i would say (i could be very wrong tho) is at 25 seconds i think you should change the from the bridge to the neck pick up. Like i say i could be wrong and probably am. Very good tho

  • @leebicke

On a twin humbucker guitar I do just that and in few other places also for a bit of tonal variation; but the single coils in the neck and middle position on this guitar did not sound right with overdrive, so I just kept it to the bridge pup. Thanks for the comment.

  • wow! Nice Tone and playing here!

    What PU do you play?

    ingo

  • @lespaulordeath

  • The funniest lefthand Ive ever seen making vibrato. Thanks for the entertainment.

And yes, I know Geoff privately, old buddy for many years, so no comments about he plays like that. Big smile.

  • Great man! Sweet tone and playing!

  • Well that was amazing and moving dude. I have this backing track from (I think) Guitar Techniques or a similar magazine together with the tab from many years ago. You just gave me the inspiration to learn it. I did burn the track onto a CD which I play in the car. Love this track and thanks for sharing man. Good version.

  • Is that a stratocaster ultra ? With lace sensors ?

  • @leebicke hi, i play this track a lot and you're right, change to neck. geoff is well underated. nice video and first time i've seen it covered. i wish i could get more backing tracks from his two albums especially 'PG Tips'.

  • Nice, well done. I have a set of BK Crawlers in my Les Paul. I must get out my Guitar Techniques copy with that backing track, and see how that sounds. Don't know why I never thought to do that before.

You are right that Geoff is a master of tone and taste.
