For this to have been posted in 08, you are way ahead of the game. Everything that you spoke about in this vid has been integrated into smart phones. if the companies were marketing products towards adults the dotmobi phone would have been huge, but marketing focused on the youth is much more effective and its more cost effective to have a phone that can access sites which companies already have than to have every site owner make another costly investment in a new site variation. GREAT VID!!!
Have you heard of internet 2? Sort of a cable pay per view type network which you pay for sites outside a network. How do you think it wil be advertised? (even though it sounds like a horrible idea which is being implemented as we speak)
The problem with voice recognition on any portable device is that it is difficult use in public because people would feel slightly embarassed. I think there will be a more advanced technology like eye movement recognition or mouth movement recognition.

Convergence is not the way. Unless it has the need for 'convenience'.
a mobile phone is a convenience product.

Some very interesting ideas, and insight. I agree with some of what you said, some not so much.

So my T-Mobile G1 has:
1) GPS
2) Scanner for product info
3) Location of friends and families
4) Nearest gas station and price
5) Nearest restaurants and price
So, it's safe to say that the T-Mobile G1 is a MobiPhone

"is the mobiphone not convergence?"
I thought the same. I'm curious what Mr. Ries would say.
Although I must admit, I wouldn't hesitate to get my MobiPhone at any price. It's exactly the kind of thing that would save my day (and life)
