There were many Five and Dime Stores in the USA. Woolworths was one that migrated to England long ago, and continued to do business long after they were all shuttered in the US. There were small and large Woolworths in England. This store in Coventry England is long gone into administration or bankruptcy as we know it in the US. T.J. Hughes has opened in some former Woolworths in England. I enjoyed shopping in one of these in Derby in 2010.

  • I remember going to Woolworths downtown when I was a kid. I loved the toy dept and the downstairs soda fountain. We had a very nice one here that closed back in the 70's or early 80's

  • @maynardcat Many former Woolworth stores in England are now T.J. Hughes. I purchased several small things from Hughes this past January while in England. I think we still have a Woolworth Building in New York City. :)
