At five-foot-six Olympic gold medalist Allyson Felix doesnt appear to be the natural choice as a sprinter. Until you see the length of one of her strides.

  • very nice :)

  • @phastman1994 I feel you.

  • @TheMadBlackGamer ok true but a long stride alone won't do it, it's the rare combination of acceleration, turnover, and stride length that makes Bolt so fast

  • @phastman1994 I didn't mean to say it like that at all; I meant to say it like it depends on how the person handles things like that, especially if he only has a long stride.

  • @TheMadBlackGamer It's true that it depends on the person, Bolt's height does help him individually. But when you say height's an advantage it seems like ur saying if guys like Mo. Greene and Gay were taller they'd be faster, which isn't true, given that they wouldn't have that same super quick turnover. The average elite 100m sprinter is between 5'9" and 6'3". I believe the only other sub 9.9s 100m sprinters standing at 6'5" or taller are Ryan Bailey (9.88) and Olusoji Fasuba (9.85).

  • @phastman1994 Haters? Nobody ain't hating on your bitch ass. I am a sprinter for my high school myself and I have to say the people with height are more likely to have success in sprinting if he works on his speed, acceleration, form, turnover and also their power and endurance. Height does make a major difference depending on the person; If he has a good stride length but he lacks some things it can hurt. If he works on what he lacks then the shorter sprinter is in trouble. Bolt was always fast

  • @TheMadBlackGamer and I think you haters need to get ur facts straight before talking shit, there's zero proof that heights an advantage in short sprinting. Bolt has the acceleration and turnover of a 5'x" sprinter, which is usually what taller sprinters lack, add that to his natural stride length and he got it all, his height isn't the only reason he's fast.

  • @phastman1994 I think you should take @4893053 advice and talk to Usain; He will beg to differ.

  • I think you need to go talk with Usain

  • @2dtrack Height isn't an advantage. Height = slower turnover, which is just as important as stride length. If you have slow turnover and rely strictly on stride length, height is useless..
