unfortuantly yes the hewit family did exist, i mean, i think they over exagerate what they did, but yes, its based on a true story, but the only living relative is a 3rd cousin. So i think we are safe from them. but the only reason he wore a mask was because he had some problems with his face. If you saw the first texas chainsaw massacre you can see he took off his mask and see his nose was missing. thats most of the reason he wore a mask

well technicly the guy that they took the story from was Eddie Gein. He also inspired Norman Bates from psycho and Buffalo Bill From slience of the lambs. He really did skin people and all but this all happend in Plainfield, Wisconsin 1957, and he also died in 1984.he killed 2 ppl the other waz Mary Hogan. The other body parts they found was when he went grave robbin.
