Every five minutes, ten students drop out of school - Despite government effort to free tuition fee for primary and junior high school level, still many students are facing difficulties to continue schools specifically for the low income family since they still have to absorb the cost of uniform, books, extra curricular, transport, foods, etc.

18,954,668 school aged children (4-18 years) DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL? - The decision to not go to school / drop out is tragic as most of them are not aware of the consequences that lie ahead in the future for them. They are more likely to be unemployed, living in poverty, unhealthy, single parents due to divorced, and worse they might be in prison or death row due to their inability to support themselves

10.21% of Indonesia's population are illiterate or 21.8 million people or about five times larger than Singapore's population

About Sampoerna Foundation

SF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of and access to education in Indonesia. Since 2005, SF has formulated several programs to improve the quality of education. SF also facilitates the efforts of private sector entities to support the development of national education through their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) programs by managing their CSR funds and enabling SF scholarship recipients to take part in the internship programs offered by the various corporations.
