Interesting... here I am on youtube. I stumble across a video from a talented filmogropher (whom I know, by the way. At the same time I am watching the Bourne Ultimatum.
I am torn. However, the MUSIC, not the video caught my attention: Edith Piaf's "No Regrets."
Now, we all have heard this tune. The words on the screen make an impact- sure. But, the words of the song really drive it home.
In my mind's eye, I see myself rescuing a Border Collie on the horizon, and having no regrets.

Black dogs and black cats in shelters get passed over more than pets of other colors. There are specific rescue groups on Yahoo just for Black dogs and black cats.

i moved out of my house and the neighbour wanted my cat as he became friends. All worked out well. We own our own home now with 3 cats and a dog.

I've got news for ya.....There's NOT that many "good breeders". 99% of them are in it for the money.
Dogs ARE NOT A COMMODITY.
ANYONE that gets a dog ANYWHERE besides your local shelter, is signing a death warrant for a GOOD shelter dog and keeping the "dog factories" in business.
Let me say it again...."DOGS ARE NOT A COMMODITY". Just because they use the word "breeder" in their business description, doesn't change the fact that they're in it for THE MONEY. Don't be fooled!

Very true, and I absolutely agree. However, a lack of knowledge is what hinders some folks. They just do not know anything other than "the pound" is where the pet has to go. In our area the humane society, or any other rescue is extremely hard to get a hold of, and I think we lack foster families, too.

What burns me up is someone that has a pet finds themselves in a position they have to move, and the apartment they are moving to doesn't allow pets, so the pet gets sent to the shelter. That is such a shame. I wouldn't move anywhere without my pets, but some do not have a choice.

Agreed. One of the things dog owners can do is to find a privately-owned no-kill rescue. Rescues can keep dogs much longer than a shelter or a pound, until they find a new home for the dog. Some rescues have a tremendous network of foster homes as well. Those of us who are no threatened to move should find a reputable rescue, and volunteer to foster an unwanted dog.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE.
But there is only one flaw; You also dont know that dogs history; It could be animal/human aggresive, or territorial, or poorly socialized; So you have to really careful when you adopt; As long as those dogs are rehabilitated, I want to encourage people adopting dogs!

My Dear! Oh, you have my so excited! I am writing an article EXACTLY covering that topic. You are either brilliant, or we are twins! You can't express all that you feel and know in one video, but you hit it all in your comment. Thank you!!!
