Custom Turbo 22re, 87 4-runner.

Here's a quick shot of my 4runner, custom turbo setup on a lightly modified 22re, around 10-12lbs of boost, ported head, hand-made turbo manifold, IHI RHB6 turbo with external waste gate, Supra 315cc injectors, stock intercooler out of a Ford Probe, AFM out of a Mazda 626, manual boost controller. Cometic metal head gasket, full 3" exhaust, custom solid axle swap, chevy leafsprings, 36" swampers, Spool in rear.

i put this turbo on with what i had laying around in my garage. so yea, basically under 400 bucks. i spent about 2000 bucks on the second 22re i turboed, forged internals and a 16g and evo injectors, balanced and what not. pushed about 25 lbs of boost no problem and i kept snapping driveshafts and ripping out the mounts in my 3-link because it had so much nut!

Um. At what point in this video did you have ANY boost? The boost gauge read 0...

On any car with a turbo, your almost never going to see boost when just revving. even with the new turbo and better internals, i still only see 4-6lbs when revving.

Hey ive got a RBH6 turbo off the GMC cabover. How fast did it spool? if you remember how fast for say 5psi thanks man sick fuckin rig!!

That little turbo spooled very quick but it was so dinky that in the high revs it had so much backpressure! my new evo turbo spools just as quick tho.

sick, my last yota was an 87 22rte, swapped the turbo to a CT26, super quick spool, pushing 9psi, wicked clean too. Had to sell it due to stupid college.

What turbo are you running? looks like a T3?

It was an RHB6 turbo but Im redoing everything, Right now i have eagle rods, balanced internals, Turbo pistons, its bored .40 over, ARP head studs, Ported head, 450 cc injectors, 16g turbo off of an Evo 8 and running about 18lbs right now

nice vid man... What did you do to the motor so that it wont hit fuel cut?? my friend currently has a 92 pickup with a turbo on it but it hits fuel cut or something when you hit about 4000 rpm , he however has stock non-turbo injectors and a stock afm from a 22rte, the turbo he has is a pretty big garrett ball-bearing. what year 626 is your afm off of and was it a straight plug n play or did you have to swap out the electronics??? Any info would help.... Thanks

What does it matter on the welds wtf? That nigga is boosted. I don't see you boosted in any videos... Don't run your mouth. Plus for the little space and no money this guy looked like he had that shit looked leggitt, bet he didn't spend more then 400 and he's boosted in z 4runner!!!
