Blue Crayfish Eats Minnow

This is a wild-caught crayfish from northern Michigan. Most of our crayfish have a little bit of a bluish tint, but this one was incredibly colored. I've had him for a few months, and he's molted several times. The minnow was probably an inch and a half long. It didn't take the crayfish long to learn that the metal feeding tweezers mean food, and he now rigorously attacks the clips as soon as he sees them.

Otherwise that crayfish must have snorted a line of coke before he decided to eat that minnow.

Nope, normal speed.

This crayfish was the most active and spastic and attitude-y of all the crayfish I've ever crossed paths with (and I've crossed paths with many).

Oh, and no cocaine, either... at least, I don't think so. I'm not even sure how that would work under water.

Northern Michigan? How North? I want To get myself one. I do Have a blue one, it changes color after a few molts. It was green at first.

The northernest part of the lower peninsula. I can see the Mackinac Bridge from the shoreline near my home on a clear day. In my 26 years in this part of MI, I have never seen another crayfish this blue, wild or otherwise. I wish I could just catch another one, but I fear it may have been a once in a lifetime thing.
