This is an original PS3 60B bought in Nov 2006. June 2011, I got the YLOD. Including a trip to the electronics store to pick up some thermal paste (I used IC Diamond), it took 4-5 hours from the time we left for the electronics store to the time I got it booting again. Phew.
I had an embossing heater I used to make my wedding invitations, so that's what I used for reflowing...
My HW eject button doesn't work anymore... I had to manhandle that ribbon cable a bit because I'm an idiot, so that's probably why. The XMB lets you eject from the software so it's really not a big deal at all. The power button works fine.
I have a 60gb ps3 it's still working I have had it for 3 years
