Industrial/Power Electronics project from Manchester, UK, formed in 1985 by Dave Padbury and Trevor Ward as an outgrowth of Opera for Infantry (O.F.I.), another Industrial/Noise project, which was active between 1983-1985. TGW's mu-sick has been mainly inspired by the British Anarcho-Punk, Industrial and Post-Punk movements, especially by artists such as Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Psychic TV, Test Dept., Whitehouse, Crass, Sex Pistols/Johnny Rotten, The Clash, Killing Joke and Joy Division/Ian Curtis.
Further (non-musical) influences are D.I.Y., situationism, neoism, survivalism, class struggle, and prominent personages like William S. Burroughs, Charles Manson, Friedrich Nietzsche, James Graham Ballard, Yukio Mishima, Derek Jarman, Malcolm X, Ulrike Meinhof, Stewart Home and Irvine Welsh.
