This is my first attamt on cartridge tilting a ROM and I didn't think it would be so fun. I will be doing this a lot now. For those who don't know how to do it this is what you do!

Step 1. Make a savestate in any level on SM64

Step 2. Open up a different rom that is not super mario 64.

Step 3. Open the savestate

Mario will get stuck if....

Open a door
Crash into a wall the wrong way
Punch
Ground Pound

And Many other things as well!

  • This is'nt cartidge tilting. a savestate is just a dump of the RAM and current values in the cpu's registers. Once you boot a new rom and load up that savestate the game continues as normal, until it tries to read from the ROM, which is now changed. That results in incorrect values which leads to unknown consequences

  • @oskenso Doing this on the ROM give similar effects to cartridge tilting, which is why people call it that even on the ROM. I didn't mean it in a way that I am tilting something using the emulator instead, I was just using it's common name for when it is used for both console played and emulation

  • Forgive me for my stupidity, but what does it mean to tilt a cartridge? Does it mean to physically tilt it, or is it a metaphor?

  • it's just like cartridge tilting on an N64. take the game cartridge on your N64, pull the left side up(from this ||||| to this ////)

doing it on an emulater has a similar effect on the N64.

  • OMG this glitch happend on my N64..... Not emulator ...i mean the right!!!!!... Nintendo 64 ...with the scary sound... >_> lol it happend on a Emulator XD!

  • it's happend to me on the N64 too! You just hold the right side of the cartridge and pull the left side upwards! (there are rumors of it being bad for you n64 and games)

  • Finally! A way to harmlessly cartridge tilt your favorite games! I'm gonna try this on Bad Fur Day!

  • I didn't look up how to cartidge tilt and tilted it backward. I got some audio fuzz and the game stopped working except for nature noises (I was on the castle grounds). Then my N64 didn't work for a few minutes. I'm a genius.
