(THERE'S A STORY FOR THIS? oO;)
Lea and Yuna knew each other since she'd moved to Besaid. He used to go down to the beach with Isa and practice their sparring when the adults didn't watch. However, one day they didn't come back. They'd been lost to a darkness that the village didn't know about.
"How did this happen...?"
Years later, Axel snuck back before he had to return to Never Was, just to see how his original self's friend was. He was horrified, however, about finding that Yuna left to complete the summoner's pilgrimage. He wanted to stop her, but he wasn't himself anymore; would she even recognize him? He then remembered another friend who sacrificed herself for him and Roxas. With tears in his eyes, he fled back to Twilight Town, where Roxas found him. Axel explained everything to the blond, knowing his friend probably didn't understand a word. He was surprised to see that understanding look in Roxas' eyes.
"You don't want to lose her either, huh?" Roxas asked, moving a little bit closer.
Axel's gaze dropped as he fiddled with the popsicle stick in his hand. "...She was important to Lea."
"And she's gonna die soon, right?"
"Yeah, but-"
"Then go." Roxas grinned, then smiled sadly as his friend vanished through a portal. "...Just don't do anything stupid."
Axel gets there just in time to see Yuna facing her death, without her guardians and surrounded by Bevelle soldiers who have orders to shoot her for being a traitor to Yevon and defiling "holy ground." He jumped in front of her, taking a bullet to the chest. Yuna stared at him in surprise; he seemed familiar to her somehow.

Sadly, it wasn't until the end that she recognized him. "We're friends... got it memorized?"

As Axel fades, having sacrificed himself to save her, she cries, remembering all the times she watched Isa, Lea, and Ven playing. "Don't cry for me... I don't exist anymore."
"How can I not?" Yuna responds, "I prepared to die myself, but just after being reunited with you..."
"I'm not the me you once knew," Axel replies sadly, reaching up for her face before his hand fell. "Get it..."
Yuna sobs, seeing the young boy she thought of as a big brother as the Nobody's eyes close and he fades away. "Lea... why...? Why did you have to go?"


Leave it to me to make an emo crossover. :P
