Hit The Bar (Original Song)

This is a song i wrote about a footballer who gets into a heavy drinking lifestyle. It comes after reading a lot of books about footballers who seem to go down this route.

Hit the bar

He used to be a footballer
in a successful team
All the fans lived through him
and he lived the dream

He scored some important goals
and he also hit the bar
And after every game
he always hits the bar

He got an injury
and it never did clear
so he spent all his money and time
on vodka whisky and beer

He liked good team spirit
and he tried so hard to find
but spirits in bottles
are now the only thing on his mind

Like the old cliche
it was a game of two halves
Now the halves being poured down his throat
are all that give him his laughs

Now he's just alone in the pub
got something on his mind
I think now he realises
his life is in injury time

@navim49 Thanks Navim. I was probably thinking of a lot of people with this. I suppose the most famous would be a sort of George Best figure but over the years i have read a lot of auto/biographies of Scottish or English league footballers and a lot of them had the same story. Maybe it's to do with having a lot of money and a lot of spare time, or strangers wanting to buy them drinks and them being unable to refuse, and getting more and more drawn into a drinking lifestyle.
