Everything You Need to Know about Narcissists, Psychopaths, and Abuse - click on this link: http://www.narcissistic-abuse.com/faq1.html

The narcissist is emotionally attached to only one thing: his disorder. The narcissist loves his disorder, desires it passionately, cultivates it tenderly, is proud of its "achievements" (and in my case, makes a living off it). His emotions are misdirected. Where normal people love others and empathize with them, the narcissist loves his False Self and identifies with it to the exclusion of all else - his True Self included.

(From the book "Malignant Self-love: Narcissism Revisited" by Sam Vaknin - Click on this link to purchase the print book, or 16 e-books, or 2 DVDs with 12 hours of video lectures on narcissists, psychopaths, and abuse in relationships: http://www.narcissistic-abuse.com/thebook.html)

  • Narcissists treat people around them like crap yet they think they're great. If that's not mentally ill, I don't know what is. The definition of mental disorder is when mental reality is out of sync with observable fact, actual reality. Narcissists are jerks, and they are unable to see that plain truth. It's so out of sync with their false self, which is the exact opposite. One is real, and the other is a fiction. They choose the fiction because they are too weak to face the truth.

  • Everyone is just so damned "Special" and Narcissistic. Everyone that is... EXCEPT ME.

  • @patriciacarrasco But YOU and the rest of the world are humble and nice? LOL@YOU!

  • @zengreen7 ure full of crap! americans are very narcissistic and think theyre the best! they think theyre the center of the universe

  • @Ethioness Perhaps that is why America is number 1, the most POWERFUL nation and the ENVY of the universe, when you are on top, people like YOU make the type of comment that you made, USUALLY the comment is fueled by JEALOUSY.

  • I agree wholeheartedly

  • @drewpcb I do not disagree with you. I think its a shared disorder 60/40, men.

  • @ImDemanding Despite Sam's opinion and self diagnosed himself a narcissist, most narcissist are women in the U.S. , really!

  • @halkiphulkiben I am not a doctor, but I do not think full reconditioning is possible. They are the most arrogant, sadistic of people. I had hope for some time of full recovery, but no. They see everything through their own eyes. I think it will take a full 180, a full giving up, fully trusting a doctor, and becoming complete aware through persistence, faith, or allowing their insignificant other to help them. Until then, which is highly unlikely, no.

  • OMG. HE IS A NARCISSIST! All this time, I thought he was a selfish asshole. I have to get away. How? Especially in this economy. :-(
