Ole Jody is hitting 73... !

Claude Harmon Jr won a special Oscar for playing Jody in The Yearling, and he deserved it. In my opinion, one of the all-time great child actor performances.

Oh, my. How tearfully beautiful. Little Claude Jarman and that fawn are too sweet for words. Jarman's expressions just break your heart! It's truely a shame he doesn't act more now.
Thanks for sharing this.

@ItBrandonSilver I guess you parents did not let you have a deer too by the sound of ti :-p

This movie was awful. A film about two idiot parents who won't let their kid have a deer, breaking his heart forever. Oh yeah, splendid entertainment.

good movies where no filthy talking or vulgar actions were shown as entertainment--the good ol' days----

Good old movies where no one had to curse or do vulgar things to entertain---GONE ARE THOSE DAYS IT SEEMS!!!

@zqfan27 - I don't want to give away an important part of the plot but, no, the father does not kill the deer.

The final scene is one of the most moving scenes
in cinema history. Truly a tear-jerker.

I actually cried watching it, and I cry about once a year at most.
