I was lucky enough to spend some summer vacations as a child and adult at the Stinson Ranch. My aunt and uncle live across the street so it was a very convenient place for everyone to gather.
When I last rented in 2001 I was really surprised that it was still standing; the roof was sagging, the pier in tatters from its former self, and generally it was in pretty rough condition, but even so it was one of the best cottages to rent soundside. The ranch offered a spectacular soundside view, you could fish from the deck, had instant access to sound, a non-stop breeze and peaceful lapping of waves all around. There wasn't a level place to be found in cottage, it almost felt like you were riding on an elaborate drift-wood raft over the sound, particularly after a couple of cocktails.
My condolence to the Stinson family, and many thanks for the time I was able to spend there and the memories that will last forever.
