Creole Tomato Festival and Charmaine Neville

The French Quarter will be full of music and cooking demonstrations with the 21st annual Creole Tomato Festival, the Cajun and Zydeco Festival and the New Orleans Seafood Festival all happening simultaneously. In Dutch Alley, the Creole Tomato is being feted with bands, cooking demonstrations and a mini farmers market. A highlight on Latin food called "Cocina Latina" will debut this year. Bands include Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots, Lil Queenie, Charmaine Neville & Friends, Sherman Washington and the Zion Harmonizers and others. Chefs Leah Chase of Dooky Chase, Tory McPhail of Commander's Palace, Danny Trace of CafŽ Adelaide and Scott Snodgrass of One Restaurant and Lounge and others will demonstrate their recipes using tomatoes. Visitors spending at least $25 at French Market vendors can redeem their receipts for a five pound box of farmer Benny Becnel's Creole Tomatoes. Free admission. -- Will Coviello
