Does the pad cover the microphone? I record notes for class using PearNote and I'm worried about mic performance if I buy one of these.

@URPREY It should! I got the "baroque" version, and (being of that bent), I love it. I usually go minimal, but these flourishes are beautifully in tension with the overall industrial effect of black napa with aluminum. Think Neal Stephenson.
