you know, i like tony. i also like the reformed camp. why can't we come together and become one? reformed, it is not compromise. liberals, it is not ignoring the poor. Christ calls us to be with the poor but with our convictions and the truth of the scripture always with us. we need balance, and i feel like everyone including myself is always saying either "forget truth, we need peace and justice!" or "repent or go to hell" and forget the poor. why can't we?
I like Campolo, but he clearly favors Democrats. He rarely speaks of the Republicans in a favorable way, like he does his friends in the Dem. party. Truth is Clinton used him as a pawn to appease the left and the right. Everyone knows Campolo says he is evangelical, while typically siding with the liberals. It was Clintons way to look like he was getting spiritual help during a difficult time, while at the same time lose as few and draw as many supporters. Campolo is often used this way.
that is not the message of the bible the message is Jesus salavtion Repentance how about responding to Jesus this is the socialist ...so called gospel Jesus
Mister Campolo, Matthew 25 the judgement-day is not for the cristians, they are judging with Jesus. And the U2 Bono IS NOT A CRISTIAN, but a great showman and egoist. That's the fact!!!
My answer must come from the Bible: "15 Don't love the world or anything that belongs to the world. If you love the world, you cannot love the Father. 16 Our foolish pride comes from this world, and so do our selfish desires and our desire to have everything we see. None of this comes from the Father. 17 The world and the desires it causes are disappearing. But if we obey God, we will live forever." (I John 2:15-17).
We're all sinners and all guilty of many things. Thank God for forgiviness. If you believe you are the judge of whether he is or not and think you can call him out and bluntly say he's not a Christian then that's your issue. I guess I don't know him personally and don't know his heart, but he seems very passionate about Jesus and loving the least of these and he's definitely been used to bring lots of wisdom to my life personally.
You mention that the only time Jesus judges is Matthew 25. Campolo is simply taking that passage to heart by seeking to help the least of these. That is what is most important to God according to Jesus. In Matt. 25 Jesus didn't say anything about bringing religion to the poor but rather bringing what they need for this life: food, shelter, clothing, love. Also Campolo is an evangelist, he gives the 'lost' gospel and social justice. He doesn't compromise either.
